LA Times poll:Bush policies lag in support

LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- The race for U.S. president remains a statistical dead heat, with nearly every question evenly split, a Los Angeles Times poll indicates.

Presumptive Democratic Party candidate John Kerry was the choice for president of 46 percent of respondents while President Bush was named by 44 percent -- a difference within the poll's margin of error. Seven percent of those asked remain undecided and the independent candidacy of Ralph Nader was selected by 3 percent of respondents.
