Head of U.S. hostage found in Riyadh

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, July 21 (UPI) -- The head of U.S. hostage Paul Johnson who was beheaded by al-Qaida in Saudi Arabia last month was found Wednesday in a refrigerator in Riyadh.

An interior ministry statement said the head was discovered while police searched suspected terrorist hideouts in King Fahd neighborhood following a clash with Muslim militants during which two terrorists were killed and three others captured.

"This indicates the extent of depravation and deviation from the right Islamic path, which the terrorists have reached," the statement said, adding searches were continuing to find the rest of Johnson's body.

Johnson, 49, was beheaded after his al-Qaida kidnappers said Saudi officials failed to fulfill their demands to free jailed al-Qaida members and order all Westerners from the kingdom.
