Egypt promises Allawi utmost support

CAIRO, July 21 (UPI) -- Egypt Wednesday promised visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi maximum support for his interim government.

Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif after talks with Allawi the two sides agreed to form a higher committee headed by the two countries prime ministers to follow up but did not elaborate.

Allawi said Egypt and Iraq agreed to boost bilateral relations.

"We have reaffirmed to the Egyptian government out determination to crush terrorism," Allawi said.

Allawi arrived in Cairo Wednesday on the second leg of a Mideast tour that will also take him to Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
