Congressional leadership to speak at DNC

WASHINGTON, July 16 (UPI) -- Democrats announced Friday that Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., -- will address the national convention in Boston.

The convention will focus on the theme "Stronger at home, respected in the world."

Daschle is scheduled to speak Tuesday night, which centers on "a lifetime of strength and service." Pelosi will address the delegates Thursday, when Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., is scheduled to accept the party's nomination.

Daschle and Pelosi are "leading voices in our party and on the frontlines of the effort to help working families get ahead and make our country more secure," campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill said in a statement.

"These are two individuals who serve their country with honor every day, and we are privileged that their voices will be part of this year's convention."
