Kerry-Edwards bounces into lead in Pa.

WASHINGTON, July 14 (UPI) -- The choice of John Edwards as running mate gave Sen. John F. Kerry a bounce in the key state of Pennsylvania, according to Wednesday's Quinnipiac poll.

Kerry, the poll said, drew the support of 46 percent of the 1,577 registered voters statewide contacted for the survey, which was conducted July 6-11, after Edwards was selected for the ticket's No. 2 spot.

Bush was at 41 percent in the latest poll while liberal independent Ralph Nader continued, at just 5 percent, to run behind the undecideds.

Without Nader, the gap between Kerry and Bush rises to 7 points, with the Massachusetts Democrat at 49 percent and Bush, whom 52 percent of respondents disapprove of the job he is doing as president, at 41 percent.

The survey, conducted by the polling unit of Quinnipiac University, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
