Troops pull out of Rafah, two killed

GAZA, July 2 (UPI) -- Israeli army forces killed two Palestinians Friday while pulling out of the Gaza town of Rafah, near the border with Egypt, Palestinian medics said.

Witnesses said five tanks and two bulldozers approached the al-Barazil neighborhood of the town Thursday and demolished six houses near the Egyptian border, where a 9-year-old boy was killed.

They said that, as Israeli army forces were leaving the area Friday morning, a 25-year-old Palestinian was shot dead in the chest in an exchange of fire between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian militants.

Medics at a local hospital in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis said that a Palestinian militant was found dead near the Jewish settlement of Nitzer Hazani west of the town, and his body was brought to the hospital.

Residents said the identity of the militant was not known, but said they had heard an exchange of fire after midnight, adding that the militant was apparently killed as he was trying to attack the settlement.
