LONDON, June 30 (UPI) -- British police say Jane Shea, the ex-wife of former English soccer captain Tony Adams, left a woman dying in the back of a car, Sky News reported Wednesday.

Teresa Tuppen, 44, was found dead in the back of Jane Shea's black BMW on the night of April 26. Shea is the ex-wife of soccer star Tony Adams.

Testifying at an inquest, a police officer said the vehicle was stopped because it had no tags.

Besides finding Tuppen dead in the back seat, the officer testified that he found Shea was "agitated", "not coherent" and fiddling with her bag in the passenger's footwell.

The officer further testified that Jason Gaubert, a drug addict, who was driving, was also "agitated" and that both he and Shea laughed as they were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The two were later released without charge.

Gaubert said Tuppen, also a drug addict, was unable to walk when she got into Shea's BMW earlier in the evening.

Officials said they could not rule out the possibility.
