2 Palestinians killed in southern Gaza

GAZA, June 27 (UPI) -- Two Palestinians from southern Gaza town of Kahn Younis were killed Sunday and three wounded as Israeli soldiers opened intensive gunfire at the area, medics said.

Medics at Nasser Hospital in the town confirmed that two bodies were received at the emergency room of the hospital and three others were injured and got proper treatment.

Palestinian residents of al Namsawi neighborhood in western Khan Younis said that Israeli soldiers staioned at the Jewish settlement of Neveh Dekalim west of Khan Younis had suddenly opened fire at the area, killing two people and wounded three others.

Shortly before the Israeli attack on the neighborhood, Palestinian militants from both Hamas and Fatah movements' armed wing blew up a tunnel under a lookout post south of the central Gaza Strip town of Deir el Ballah.

Palestinian witnesses said that five Israelis were killed, while Israeli arm,y sources said that at least one killed and 15 others were injured.
