Fayez-Sharon meeting terms spelled out

AMMAN, Jordan, June 15 (UPI) -- Jordanian Prime Minister Faycal al-Fayez said Tuesday he will meet Israel's Ariel Sharon if the Jewish state hands over Jordanian prisoners.

Amman's mass-circulation daily al-Rai quoted al-Fayez as saying: "I am ready to carry a message to Sharon and meet him on condition he turns over to me all the Jordanian prisoners."

An estimated 71 Jordanians are held in Israel, including four convicted of killing Israelis and whom the Israeli government has so far refused to liberate.

Al-Fayez said his government insists on the release of all Jordanians. The issue has delayed the release of other prisoners.

Amman said a few days ago a team from the interior ministry will head to Israel in coming days to visit the prisoners and discuss their cases.
