AMMAN, Jordan, May 28 (UPI) -- Jordan's Crown Prince Hamzah, half-brother of King Abdullah, and his bride Princess Noor held a large reception Friday in Amman to celebrate their wedding.
The wedding itself was held privately a year ago, the BBC reported. The reception was attended by many international dignitaries.
Hundreds of people lined the streets as the couple were driven to the Zahran Palace in a 1961 Lincoln Continental that belonged to the late King Hussein.
The princess is the prince's cousin and granddaughter of a rival to the throne.
The reception guests included Spain's Queen Sophia and royal newlyweds Crown Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia, Egyptian first lady Suzanne Mubarak, Farah Diba, widow of the deposed Shah of Iran, and the Duke of York.
A graduate of the Britain's Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Prince Hamzah is a captain in the Jordanian armed forces.
