Peterson seeks pre-hypnosis testimony

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 25 (UPI) -- A motion filed in a California court by Scott Peterson's attorneys seeks to admit testimony about alternative suspects in the murder of Laci Peterson.

Lawyer Mark Geragos said in court documents filed Monday that Modesto prosecutors withheld information about a witness who reported seeing Laci Peterson being dragged into a van by two or three unidentified men.

The Modesto Bee said Tuesday neighbor Diane Jackson was hypnotized by police who allegedly knew her testimony would therefore be inadmissible in court.

Geragos contended Jackson should be allowed to testify because she reported seeing the alleged abduction before investigators had her hypnotized. He also alleged police had Jackson hypnotized to keep her from testifying and raising doubts about Peterson's guilt.

Peterson is charged with murdering his pregnant wife and her unborn son on the day before Christmas 2002.

Jury selection in Redwood City should be completed by Thursday.
