Bush tumbles off bike

CRAWFORD, Texas, May 22 (UPI) -- President George W. Bush fell off his bicycle Saturday while riding on his Texas ranch, White House spokesman Trent Duffy told reporters.

Bush fell about 16 miles into a 17-mile ride on his ranch in Crawford, CNN reported. The president suffered minor abrasions to his chin, upper lip, nose, right hand and both knees, but was able to ride back home, Duffy said. He was accompanied on his bike by his doctor, Richard Tubb, a military agent, and a member of the secret service.

Tubb treated the president on site. Duffy said Bush was wearing a helmet and a mouth guard when he fell.

Duffy told reporters not to be surprised if the president is bandaged next time he appears in public.

The president and first lady are still scheduled to go to Austin, Texas, for a college graduation celebration for their daughter, Jenna.
