Israeli tanks shell civilian car in Gaza

GAZA, May 14 (UPI) -- An Israeli tank fired Friday a shell at a Gaza civilian car near the coastal road wounding a pregnant woman and two other civilians, witnesses and medics said.

The witnesses said that the tank was stationed on the coastal road west of the Jewish settlement of Nitzarim south of Gaza City.

They said a civilian car, carrying a pregnant woman was on her way to deliver at a hospital in the city was hit by a tank shell, adding that two people were with her into the car, the driver and her brother.

Medical sources at Gaza Shiffa Hospital said the three Palestinians, a pregnant woman and two men injured by the fragments of a tank shell.

The Israeli army has been dividing the Gaza Strip into four separate zones, which are Rafah area, Khan Younis area, the Gaza Strip central area and Gaza City and northern Gaza Strip area.
