WASHINGTON, April 23 (UPI) -- As a token of gratitude for her 2004 presidential run, former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun, D-Ill., has been given the 2004 Ms. President award.
"We're honoring Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun today with our 2004 Ms. President Award as a token of our gratitude to her for running for president," said Mosemarie Boyd, spokeswoman for Ms. President PAC and American Women Presidents, which sponsored the award.
Moseley Braun, who served a single term in the U.S. Senate, then served as U.S. ambassador to New Zealand, accepted the award during during a thank-you breakfast reception Braun had for her presidential campaign supporters. The event was prior to the March for Women's Lives in Washington.
The groups ay their aims are to elect more women to office.
