"All the inmates were evacuated and the fire was put out within a short time," Kahtani said.

He said two policemen were among the injured while the rest were inmates.

Al-Haer, on the outskirts of Riyadh, was the scene of a big fire seven months ago in which as many as 68 inmates were killed.
