Islamic terrorists have links to Mafia

ROME, April 20 (UPI) -- Islamic fundamentalist terrorist groups have established links with the Neapolitan mafia, a leading Italian prosecutor told the newspaper La Repubblica Tuesday.

Pier Luigi Vigna, the Italian public prosecutor investigating organized crime is quoted as saying: "We have established that Islamic terrorists have contacts with the camorra (the Neapolitan mafia), but I can't say more."

Vigna said the Italians were first alerted to these possible ties by information from the European Union commission in Brussels, Vigna said.

Italian police have been following this line of investigation since 1992, particularly in connection with the two groups sharing the same safe houses.
