Beer baron Coors to join Colo. Senate race

DENVER, April 12 (UPI) -- Beer baron Peter Coors is scheduled to make his bid for U.S. Senate official with an announcement Tuesday on the steps of Colorado's state capitol.

The Coors campaign says the son of former Reagan confidant Joseph Coors will follow his announcement with a a two-day tour of the state, with stops in Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Greeley, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Durango and Alamosa, Colo..

The 57-year-old chairman of the Adolph Coors Co., an heir to a powerful conservative dynasty and the former national chairman of the environmental group Ducks Unlimited, Coors is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat of retiring Republican U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell.
