DENVER, April 5 (UPI) -- Democrat Ken Salazar is the best known candidate of either party in Colorado's U.S. Senate race according to a Rocky Mountain News poll.
The only statewide official in the race, Salazar, who is currently the attorney general, was the name most recognized by the 400 Coloradans surveyed who said they were likely to vote in the November general election.
Salazar topped the field at 88 percent name idenfitication, followed by former Republican U.S. Rep. Bob Schaffer, whom 70 percent of the respondents were able to identify. RE/MAX International founder Dave Liniger, a millionaire businessman who said Monday that he would not make the race, finished at 22 percent while Democrat Mike Miles, a veteran educator who is running against Salazar for the Democrat's nomination was known to 25 percent.
The poll was conducted between March 31 and April 1 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.
