BURGENSTOCK, Switzerland, March 30 (UPI) -- U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan met separately Tuesday with Greek and Turkish Cypriot delegations to get reactions to his reunification plan for the island.
At the same time, Alvaro de Soto, the secretary-general's special adviser on Cyprus, met with the deputy foreign minister of Greece, Yiannis Valinikis, to get his reaction, said Marie Okabe, a U.N. spokeswoman at U.N. headquarters in New York.
De Soto had received the initial reaction of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan, after the prime minister's arrival Monday night in Burgenstock, Switzerland, where the final negotiations are being held.
Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis was also participating in the talks.
Okabe said contacts at the working level were continuing, while the secretary-general and his team evaluated reactions they have received to see whether further adjustments can be made in the time remaining. The deadline is Wednesday night.
