Chao honored by women business leaders

WASHINGTON, March 23 (UPI) -- A women's business group is honoring U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao for her efforts to assist women entrepreneurs.

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council, one of the nation's leading advocates for women-owned businesses, selected Chao to receive its 2004 Applause Award for her work to improve the social and economic climate for women.

Chao is scheduled to receive the award at the organization's annual salute to women business enterprises Wednesday night in Washington.
