MOSCOW, March 15 (UPI) -- A growing number of Russians want President Vladimir Putin to make the state play a far greater role in the economy, reversing many reforms, a new poll says.

According to the poll by Yuri Levada's Analytical Center, 31 percent of Russians want to revise the privatization of large enterprises carried out a decade ago under President Boris Yeltsin, the Moscow newspaper Novye Izvestia reported Monday

That is up by 6 percent from four years ago, the newspaper said.

In addition, 29 percent were in favor of returning to state regulation of the economy and 25 percent want to see renewed state support of major industries.

Only 13 percent were in favor of deepening or extending the free market reforms, the paper said.

The poll also showed only 20 percent of Russians support capitalist development for the country's future, the newspaper reported.
