LONDON, March 7 (UPI) -- Terry Waite, who was held hostage for 1,700 days in Lebanon, said Sunday in London the United States is fighting terrorists by using terrorist methods.
Waite, a peace activist, said in an interview with United Press International the United States is wrongly holding prisoners at its military base at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba as a reaction to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
Waite has joined the families of British and other European detainees being held at Guanatanamo Bay in launching a campaign dubbed the "Human Rights Committee for Defending Prisoners in Guantanamo."
