STUART, Fla., Feb. 24 (UPI) -- A team of lawyers filed a lawsuit in Stuart, Fla., U.S. District Court, Tuesday, on behalf of the family of deceased Georgia man Kenneth Walker.
Walker was killed on Dec. 10, 2003, when he and three other men were stopped in Columbus, Ga.. The defense lawyers sat at the time of the incident there was no evidence or information any of the passengers in the vehicle were engaged in unlawful activity.
Upon being pulled from the vehicle by law enforcement officials, Kenneth Walker was shot and killed by Muscogee County Sheriff's Deputy David Glisson.
The attorneys said Walker reportedly did not resist the law enforcement officials when the vehicle was stopped. In addition, no drugs or weapons were found.
"It is unfathomable that something like this could happen in today's society," said attorney Willie Gary, senior partner of the law firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Finney, Lewis, McManus, Watson & Sperando.
The lawsuit was filed against the Muscogee County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff Ralph Johnson, and Deputy David Glisson. The law firm is seeking $100 million in damages.
