WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Monica Lewinsky, former White House intern and girlfriend of President Bill Clinton, won't be getting any help from the government paying her legal bills.
Lewinsky had asked a federal court to have her legal fees reimbursed from the time independent counsel Kenneth Starr confronted her about her relationship with Clinton, in January 1998, until Clinton was acquitted by the Senate in February 1999.
Specifically, she had sought $1.1 million, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.
The three-judge panel said Lewinsky failed to meet the required standard for having U.S. taxpayers pay her legal bills.
In July, the same special panel largely rejected a petition from the former president and his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, for $3.58 million in reimbursement of their legal fees.
