Six reported dead in Columbia blast

BOGOTA, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- An apparent car bomb exploded in downtown Bogota, Colombia, Wednesday, killing at least six people, including two police officers, and injuring 15 others.

CNN said investigators believe a jeep packed with fertilizer and fuel oil exploded. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the blast and it was not clear whether the incident was connected with Wednesday's celebration of the International Day of the Guerrilla, which commemorates the death of revolutionary Che Guevara.

Colombia has been wracked by civil warfare between the government and both rightist and leftist guerrillas, who increasingly have been bringing their fight to the cities. Last month, 10 people died and 54 were wounded in a bomb blast in Florencia.
