Medical officials at Nasser Hospital said ambulances brought to hospital the body of Ayah Fayad, 9, and two other young men, one seriously and one moderately wounded.

They said the three were hit by fragments from the tanks' shells.

Israeli Radio Arabic sources reported Israeli soldiers were returning fire after Palestinian militants fired several mortar shells at the settlement.

Earlier Saturday, Israeli Apache helicopters fired four missiles targeting a local Palestinian camp in central Gaza Strip near the Al Buriej refugee camp. Two Hamas militants were killed and two others were moderately wounded, officials said.
