JERUSALEM, June 14 (UPI) -- A three-hour meeting between Israeli and Palestinian officials Saturday was described as "positive."
A Palestinian source told the Cable News Network that "momentum is building" and a second round of meetings could come as early as Sunday.
Palestinian Security Chief Mohammed Dahlan made specific demands, mainly that Israel withdraw from all of Gaza, CNN quoted sources as saying.
He also asked for freedom of movement for Palestinians, the removal of Israeli checkpoints, a halt to the demolition of Palestinian houses and an end to the "assassinations" of Palestinians.
He also sought the release of Palestinian prisoners and the ability to rebuild the Gaza airport, CNN said.
Israeli Maj. Gen. Amos Gilad, the coordinator for Israeli activities in the territories, asked to take a look at Dahlan's plan, the source said.
A senior Bush administration official said Washington is taking a cautiously optimistic view of the latest talks.
