OMAHA, June 14 (UPI) -- A man who kept his wife sealed up in their house for two years has been charged with first-degree false imprisonment and making terroristic threats.
The Omaha World-Herald reported Saturday David Mitchell Sr., 35, was arrested Friday evening.
After receiving a tip on June 2, officers rescued Mitchell's wife, Polly, 28, and their four children, 2, 3, 7 and 8, on June 2, the newspaper said.
Rescuers had to pull the victims out through a partially open window, the newspaper said.
Polly Mitchell told police her husband threatened to kill her if she left the house and she was locked in from the outside. She also alleged he abused her hundreds of times over the course of the two years, the newspaper reported.
The couple have been married for 10 years. Police said they learned of the situation through an anonymous tip.
The victims are in protective custody, police said.
