Peterson judge won't release autopsy

MODESTO, Calif., June 6 (UPI) -- A California Superior Court judge has declined to release autopsy reports on the bodies of Laci Peterson and her unborn son.

CNN reported Friday that the ruling went against a request by the prosecution in the Scott Peterson murder trial.

Additionally, Peterson defense attorney Mark Geragos asked for more time on another issue -- his motion to impose sanctions on the prosecution over wiretaps on Peterson's telephone. Superior Court Judge Al Girolami reset a hearing on that matter for June 26.

The rulings came during the first of two hearings scheduled for friday to hear arguments on a variety of motions. In addition to the autopsy report and sanctions motions, Girolami was scheduled to hear arguments about a proposed gag order on the case, and whether journalists should be given access to tapes of phone conversations they had with Scott Peterson.
