Actor Blake free on bail

LOS ANGELES, March 15 (UPI) -- Actor Robert Blake was free on bail Saturday, required to stay at an undisclosed location wearing an electronic monitoring device until his trial for murder, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Blake, 69, walked out of jail Friday after posting a $1.5 million bond. He had been in jail 10 months.

The former "Baretta" star is expected to go to trial next year on charges he fatally shot his wife.

Bonny Lee Bakley was killed by two bullets as she sat in Blake's car after they both had a meal in a nearby restaurant May 4, 2001.

"This isn't my day," Blake said as he left jail. "It's God's day," the Times reported.

Blake has also paid for bail for his bodyguard Earle Caldwell, charged with conspiracy. Prosecutors say Blake tried to hire a hit man to kill his wife, having decided he wanted to keep their child and failing to get someone else to pull the trigger.
