Early Calif gov returns show Simon leading

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Political rookie Bill Simon -- despite trailing in the polls much of the year -- held the early lead over Democratic incumbent Gray Davis early Wednesday morning in California's gubernatorial race. The Secretary of State showed the GOP's Simon with 46.9 percent to Davis' 44.7 percent with 21.5 percent of the votes tallied.
