Sniper's cryptic quote may be from fable

WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The cryptic expression "like a duck in a noose," read Wednesday night by Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose at the request of the D.C. sniper may have come from an old fable. The story "The Rabbit, the Otter, and Duck Hunting" ends with the duck escaping from the snare.
