Poll: Davis widens lead in Calif. gov race

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Incumbent Democrat Gray Davis has widened his lead over Republican challenger Bill Simon in the California gubernatorial race, according to a new poll Tuesday. The Los Angeles Times survey gave Davis a 45 percent to 35 percent lead over Simon with 13 percent still undecided.
