TOKYO, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Serena Williams, who has beaten older sister Venus in three Grand Slam finals this season, rallied past third seed Kim Clijsters of Belgium, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in Sunday's final of the $585,000 Princess Cup.
The world's top-ranked player, Williams captured her seventh WTA Tour title this year, tying her sister for tops on the circuit.
She did not drop a set in winning here two years ago and had not lost a set in this year's tournament before the finals. But Clijsters took the first four games from the top-seeded 20-year-old and held on to take the opening set.
Williams roared back and improved to 5-0 lifetime against the 19-year-old Belgian.
Clijsters was seeking her second title of the season after defeating then-world No. 1 Venus Williams at Hamburg. She also reached the final in Stanford before losing to Venus Williams.
