Traficant sentencing under way

CLEVELAND, July 30 (UPI) -- Former Rep. James Traficant lost a bid to use his expulsion from the House as a substitute punishment for his conviction on federal racketeering, tax evasion and other charges. The Ohio Democrat fired his attorney at the start of Tuesday's sentencing hearing. U.S. District Judge Lesley Wells rejected a motion that imposing a prison sentence would amount to double jeopardy.
