Calif gov signs auto greenhouse gas bill

LOS ANGELES, July 22 (UPI) -- California Monday became the first state in the nation to have a law on the books aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions from automobiles. Gov. Gray Davis signed a bill that launches the development of emissions standards for vehicles beginning with the 2009 model year.
