Judge halts Islamic charity's suit

CHICAGO, May 14 (UPI) -- One day after a U.S. magistrate ruled there is enough evidence to try a southwest suburban Islamic charity and its executive director on perjury charges, another judge put the charity's lawsuit against the federal government on hold Tuesday. In a 12-page decision, Senior U.S. District Judge James Alesia stayed a civil suit aimed at unfreezing the assets of the Benevolence International Foundation.
