Church paper urges celibacy study

BOSTON, March 15 (UPI) -- The nation's oldest Catholic newspaper on Friday said the Roman Catholic Church, in the wake of a ballooning scandal over child sex abuse by priests, has to face the question of whether to open the priesthood to married men. The Pilot, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Boston, also called for more research into the touchy questions of gay priests and allowing women to become priests.
