Brown takes early lead for Houston mayor

HOUSTON, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Houston Mayor Lee Brown took an early lead Tuesday night in his bid for a third term with 45 percent of the vote in unofficial returns. City Councilman Orlando Sanchez had 35 percent and City Councilman Chris Bell 19 percent. Brown needed 50 percent to avoid a runoff with his closest challenger.
