Kiki Bertens wins second straight Nuremberg title

Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands won the Nurnberger Versicherung Cup for the second year in a row with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic on Saturday in Nuremberg, Germany.

The 25-year-old Bertens, ranked 19th in the world, needed only 56 minutes to wrap up the title and didn't lose a set in any of her five matches.

"I am very happy," said Bertens, who lost to Serena Williams in the semifinals of the French Open last year and has her first match at Roland Garros this year on Monday.

"I did not expect to win this week but I did it again. I'm leaving on Sunday morning for Paris and I'll be ready on Monday."

Krejcikova, 21, who is No. 254 in the WTA standings, held serve until Bertens broke her in the fifth game and won the next three points to take the opening set in 35 minutes.

The second was an even quicker.

Bertens, who blasted seven aces to none for Krejcikova, broke in the fourth game of the second set for a 3-1 lead and won the next three to wrap up the second set in 23 minutes.
