Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Premier League power Manchester City will meet La Liga leader Real Madrid in the knockout phase of the 2024-25 Champions League soccer tournament, organizers revealed with a draw Friday in Nyon, Switzerland. Friday's draw featured clubs that finished in spot Nos. 9 through 24 in the league phase, with the Top 8 teams immediately advancing to the Round of 16. The two-legged knockout phase matches will be played Feb. 11 and12 and 18 and 19.

Real Madrid, who won the Champions League crown last June, but finished 11th in the 2024-25 league phase, will meet Manchester City, which finished 22nd, on Feb. 11 or 12 in Manchester, England, and Feb. 18 or 19 in Madrid.
No. 9 Atalanta drew No. 24 Club Brugge. No. 10 Borussia Dortmund will meet No. 23 Sporting CP. No. 12 Bayern Munich drew No. 21 Celtic. No. 13 AC Milan will play No. 19 Feyenoord. No. 14 PSV drew No. 20 Juventus. No. 15 Paris Saint-Germain will face No. 18 Brest. No. 16 Benfica drew No. 17 Monaco.
Through the draw, teams also learned their potential opponents for the Round of 16. No. 1 Liverpool or No. 2 Barcelona can face PSG, Brest, Monaco or Benfica.
No. 3 Arsenal or No. 4 Inter Milan can meet AC Milan, Feyenoord, Juventus or PSV. No. 5 Atletico Madrid or No. 6 Leverkusen can face Manchester City, Real Madrid, Celtic or Bayern Munich.
No. 7 Lille or No. 8 Aston Villa can play Atalanta, Club Brugge, Sporting CP or Borussia Dortmund.
The Round of 16, quarterfinal and semifinal draws will be held Feb. 21 in Nyon. Round of 16 matches will take place March 4/5 and 11/12. The quarterfinals will be April 8 and9 and 15 and 16. Championship League semifinals will be April 29 and 30 and May 6 and 7.
The Champions League final will be held May 31 at Allianz Arena in Munich. Champions League matches air on CBS platforms.
