Nov. 15 (UPI) -- England shutout the United States Men's National team 3-0 in Wayne Rooney's final game for his country on Thursday at Wembley Stadium in London.

Jesse Lingard put in the first score in the 25th minute. Trent Alexander-Arnold added another goal two minutes later and Callum Wilson added England's final tally in the 77th minute of the friendly.

Rooney entered the match in the 58th minute.

Lingard's strike was a thing of beauty. Midfielder Dele Alli dribbled between two defenders at the start of the play, before sliding a pass over to Lingard on the left side of the box. Lingard slid the ball over to his right before ripping a curling shot into the far post netting, beating USMNT keeper Brad Guzan.

England striker Jadon Sancho had the helper on England's second goal of the first half. Sancho turned to his right and sent a through ball in front of Alexander-Arnold during that sequence. Alexander-Arnold used his first touch to smoke a shot past Guzan and into the far post netting.

England captain Fabian Deph helped get England's final tally, sending in a cross from the left side. The ball fell into Wilson, who volleyed another shot past Guzan.

"These fixtures are great fixtures for our young guys," USMNT coach Dave Sarachan told reporters. "There are a lot of lessons learned when you play teams like England."

The USMNT battles Italy at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday at Cristal Arena in Genk, Belgium.
