Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Antoine Griezmann scored the clincher in Atletico Madrid's 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday in Madrid.

The French striker netted the score in the 80th minute of the Group A victory. Dortmund beat Atletico Madrid 4-0 in their first matchup in the Champions League.

Saul Niguez got Atletico Madrid on the scoreboard in the 33rd minute. The midfielder ran down the middle of the pitch, above the Dortmund box before leading Filipe Luis into the box with a through ball. Luis gave the ball back to Niguez on a quick give-and-go and Niguez fired a left footed shot that was deflected into the net.

Atletico Madrid held the narrow edge through the halftime whistle before Griezmann could distance his squad.

Thomas Partey ran down the left flank and split two defenders with a brilliant outside-of-the-boot pass to Griezmann on that play. Griezmann scorched down the middle of the pitch and outpaced defenders, before tricking Dortmund keeper Roman Burki with a velvet soft shot into the far post netting.

Atletico Madrid faces Monaco in its next Champions League matchup at 12:55 p.m. on Nov. 28 in Madrid. Dortmund battles Club Brugge in another Group A Champions League clash at 3 p.m on Nov. 28 at Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, Germany.
