World Cup: Switzerland ties Costa Rica; knockout round next

NIZHNY NOVGOROD -- Switzerland drew a Group E match versus Costa Rica 2-2 on Wednesday, taking the second position in the group and getting into knockouts of the FIFA World Cup 2018 championship.

The teams played the match in Nizhny Novgorod. Swiss midfielder Blerim Dzemali and forward Josip Drmic scored the goals at the 31st and 85th minutes respectively. In the Cosa Rican team, the goals were bagged by Kendall Watson [56] and Brian Ruiz [90+3, penalty goal].

Switzerland have gotten five points and moved on to the next round where they will play versus Sweden, the winner in Group F. The match will take place at 17:00 hours Moscow Standard Time [14:00 hours UTC].

Brazil has taken the first position in Group E with seven points. On July 2, it will face Mexico in Samara.

The Swiss have never lost to North American teams in World Cup championships. Switzerland scored two victories in five games and drew three more games.
