June 8 (UPI) -- Harry Kane has agreed to a six-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

The club announced the signing on Friday morning. Kane, 24, recently became the club's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League era. He finished the 2017 calendar year with 56 goals for club and country, the most in European football. He also scored 39 goals in the Premier League, breaking Alan Shearer's record.

Kane scored 41 goals in all competitions this season.

"I'm really excited, it's a proud day," Kane told the team website. "Obviously it's been a great few seasons and I'm looking forward to the future. I'm looking forward to the new stadium first and foremost and just to keep progressing as a Club."

"It's been fantastic to consistently get in the Champions League so I'm really excited to have another go at that and with the Premier League and FA Cup, we'll look to go as far as we can. For us as a Club, it's just about keeping improving and we'll work hard to do that."

Kane is set to leave for Russia to participate with England in the 2018 World Cup. England battles Tunisia in the group stage at 2 p.m. on June 18 at Volgograd Arena in Volgograd, Russia.

His new deal runs until 2024.
