The 19-year-old officially made the team on Sunday. He was selected to Australia's 23-man roster.

The Australian squad also includes: Mathew Ryan, Milos Degenek, James Meredith, Tim Cahill, Mark Milligan, Matt Jurman, Mathew Leckie, Massimo Luongo, Tomi Juric, Robbie Kruse, Andrew Nabbout, Brad Jones, Aaron Mooy, Jamie Maclaren, Mile Jedinak, Aziz Behich, Danny Vukovic, Josh Risdon, Trent Sainsbury, Dimitri Petratos, Jackson Irvine and Tom Rogic.

Arzani was born on Jan. 4, 1999. He is the youngest Aussie ever to be selected to the World Cup.

"The fact that he is with the last 23, that says enough," Australia manager Bert van Marwijk told reporters Sunday. "He's improving. He has to learn a lot again. He is a player with something extra."

Australia battles Hungary in a friendly on Saturday at Groupama Arena in Budapest, Hungary. The Aussies face France in the World Cup group stage on June 16 at Kazan Arena in Kazan, Russia.

Arzani had two goals and three assists in 18 appearances this season for Melbourne City FC. The attacking midfielder joined the A-League squad in 2016, signing a two-year deal after playing at the Football Federation Australia Centre of Excellence.
