March 5 (UPI) -- Bernardo Silva got just enough on a second half shot in Manchester City's 1-0 win against Chelsea in the Premier League.

His 46th minute score was the only one that counted in City's triumph Sunday at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England.

"We know the way Chelsea play but we wanted to be aggressive and dominate from the first minute and I think we did that," Bernardo said after the match.

Each team had its chance to pull ahead multiple times in the close affair between Premier League squads. City's Leroy Sane had one of the best attempts. It took a miraculous save from defender Cesar Azpilicueta to keep the game tied. Minutes later, City had a goal taken off of the board after being called for offside.

But after a deadlocked first half, it didn't take long for City to beat the Blues to the scoreboard.

City forward Sergio Aguero passed to David Silva on the left side of the box. Silva then touched on to Bernardo Silva, who was able to get a leg on the ball and deflect it into the net, past Thibaut Courtois for the game's only score.

"What matters is that we are champions, that is what really matters," City manager Pep Guardiola said in his postgame comments.

"I have never spoke with the players about records. We are going to try and play how we did today against Basel and Stoke. That is what I want to see from my team."

City faces FC Basel in Champions League action at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, before battling Stoke at 4 p.m. Monday, March 12 at bet365 Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent, England.
