The Brazilian was stretchered off the field during Sunday's 3-0 Ligue 1 victory against Marseille at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris. He went down after a challenge from French defender Bouna Sarr.

Neymar was carried off while holding his hands over his face, grimacing in pain.

He went down in the 80th minute after "turning his ankle," according to the PSG website. Manager Unai Emery told reporters after the match that he hoped it was nothing serious, but the club will await further examination.

"There was an exceptional atmosphere tonight," Unai said. "You could feel the desire, both in the stands and on the pitch. It was a really competitive match. We showed that it's a very special match for us and we got an excellent result. It was a clear 3-0 win. We maintained our desire to play against a side that tried to stop us from playing tonight. Now we look ahead to Wednesday's match in the Coupe de France. The injury to Neymar was the only negative. We hope it's nothing serious, but we have to wait for further medical exams."

"Finished for today," he wrote on the caption.

PSG faces Marseille again on Wednesday before battling Troyes on Saturday. The Parisians host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League bout at 2:45 p.m. on March 6.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane spoke about Neymar on Monday.

"I don't like to see player injured and it doesn't make me happy. I hope he's available for this match because I never want an opponent to be injured," he said. "I didn't like it when he got injured because I was watching the game and I hope it's not too bad. If he doesn't play there'll be another player in his place and he'll be motivated and ready to play."
