Oct. 12 (UPI) -- The Honduras men's national soccer team scored a hilarious goal on Tuesday, helping to send the squad past Mexico.

Oribe Peralta put Honduras on top 1-0 with a score in the 17th minute before Alberth Elis deadlocked the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 34th minute. Carlos Vela put Mexico up 2-1 in the first half before Honduras staged a comeback.

Honduras leveled the score when a close range shot deflected off of Mexico's crossbar. Eddie Hernandez took a cross on the play from the right side by Alberth Elis. Hernandez then fired a shot toward the left post. The ball then hit off the top crossbar and drilled Guillermo Ochoa in the back of the head and went into the net.

Romell Quioto put Honduras on top and made the score 3-2 in the 60th minute. Honduras controlled 46 percent of the possession in the victory.

With the win, Honduras has claimed a spot in a World Cup playoff match against Australia.
