Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Either Charlie Adam doesn't know how to use Twitter, or he was trolling fans when he announced his re-signing with Stoke City.

The midfielder took to the social media platform Friday to announce that he signed a new one-year deal with the team.

He turned on his phone, went into the notes app, and typed: "Delighted to announce I have extended my contract with stoke for a further year." He then posted a screenshot from the notes app, with no caption, on his Twitter account.

Many people use the notes app for long messages when they are concerned that all of their words won't fit in Twitter's 140-character limit. Adam's message was just 79 characters.

After taking alot of heat from Twitter trolls for the move and not being able to type the message out on the social media platform, Adam responded.

"Ha ha no," he said.

Twitter users, obviously, trolled harder.

One user typed out "Ha ha no" into his notes app and posted a screenshot. Another took a screen shot of his grocery list.

"Sometimes it's nice to be different," Adam tweeted.

Adam, 31, has played 151 games for Stoke. He joined the club in 2012 from Liverpool. He started Stoke's 4-0 win Wednesday against Rochdale at Britannia Stadium.
